Wine of the Month (May/June)

Torre dei Beati Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo 2007

(cher-a swoh-loh)

This wine from Abruzzo is a traditional "pink" wine from Italy. The famous varietal from Abruzzo is montepulciano (grape here -- not the town), and to make this "rose" wine, they bleed off the top when pressing their red wine. It is more red than pink, both in color and characteristic. I am fairly certain that Zeus himself (on a very hot and sweltering day) came down to Abruzzo and said "make me a red wine that is juicy and delicious and silky and sensuous and cool and that will fill the world with love and MAKE IT SNAPPY!!" Good call Zeus. This wine fits exactly that bill.
